Service: Paternity / Parentage Case

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS:

• You must read and understand this entire agreement before signing it. You should understand the types of services I can and cannot perform for you (see Part I and II below).
• I am not a lawyer. I cannot offer the legal services that a lawyer offers. I can't practice law.
• The county clerk has not evaluated or authorized my knowledge or experience, or the quality of my work.
• I cannot keep your original documents if you request that they be returned to you. I cannot keep your original documents if you and I do not sign this contract or if this contract is terminated for any reason. I cannot keep your original documents after all contract services have been provided (see Part I below). It is a violation of California law for me to keep your original documents in any of these circumstances.
• It is a violation of California law if I make a false or misleading statement to you.
• I cannot obtain special favors from, and have no special influence over, any court or any state or federal agency.
• As required by law, I have posted a bond or made a cash deposit and registered as a legal document assistant in the county where I perform these services.

Part I — Self-Help Services

Types of services I can perform for you:

I can perform the following self-help services for you in connection with a legal matter in which you are representing yourself. I can complete by machine or otherwise, as specifically requested by you, the legal documents you have selected.

I can provide you with general published information that was written or authorized by an attorney to help you represent yourself. I can provide you with published legal documents. I can file and serve legal forms and documents as specifically directed by you.

The above are the only types of services I can perform for you. If you need additional services, then you will require the services of an attorney.

Types of services I cannot perform for you:

I cannot provide you with any self-help services unless you are representing yourself in a legal matter and the self-help service is related to that legal matter.

Cancellation

You may cancel this contract for any reason within 24 hours of signing it. If you cancel the contract, I must immediately refund any fees you have paid to me. The only fees I may withhold are fees for services that I have actually performed, reasonable and necessary for you during this 24-hour period. I may only withhold fees for services performed during the 24-hour period if you were informed that I would perform such services and you agreed in this contract for me to perform such services.

To cancel this contract, send me written notice stating that you are canceling the contract. Send the notice by first-class mail with the appropriate postage and send it to me at my address (see Part V below). The cancellation takes effect on the shipping date marked by the email in the notification. You may also cancel this contract by giving me written notice of cancellation at my business within the stipulated 24-hour period.

You may also cancel this contract at any time if I:

• Do not give you a copy of this contract before providing you with any services
• Do not specify in the contract the services I will perform and the costs of said services.
• Do not give you a copy of the contract in Spanish or any other language that you understand and that was used primarily in any oral sales presentation or negotiation that led to the signing of this contract.
• If you do not comply with what was contracted within the period of time

If you cancel this contract for any of these reasons, I will immediately refund any fees you have paid to me. You may also cancel this contract at any time if you have legal cause.

Part IV — Attorney Fees and Costs

In the event a suit is brought or a claim for damages is filed in connection with this contract or to enforce its provisions, the court may award the prevailing party reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.
